In an interview with the BBC, Sun co-founder Scott McNealy revealed today that he has prepared a paper for the Obama administration on creating a more secure and cost-effective government through open source technologies.    Michael Tiemann, president of the Open Source Initiative, supports the effort as an obvious cost-saving measure.  His organization estimates that the global loss due to proprietary software is "in excess of $1 trillion a year."   Tiemann goes on to say ""The concept of open source is going to become an undercurrent to almost everything this administration does,".  Read the full article here.
