Ottawa Opening Up
I spent part of this week in Ottawa, where I had two great opportunities to talk about the benefits of Open Government Data with government employees. I had the chance to give this presentation to 110 municipal, provincial, and federal government employees at ALI's Social Media for Government conference. I look forward to following up on the great conversations started. Thanks to ALI for organizing this valuable event.
As icing on the cake, the incomparable Laura Wesley organized an informal 5a7 at Fresco's on Elgin, where I spoke to about 20 Government of Canada employees from four different departments. Richard Ackerman blogged about the event here, and live-blogged it here.
I'm proud to report that organizing tweets for changecamp Ottawa started during my talk at ALI. Citizens of our nation's capital can get involved in spreading the changecamp movement here, or on Twitter under the tag #changecampottawa. The first in-person organizational meeting is proposed for Monday, February 16th, at the ClockTower pub.
